Bypassing what is considered to be one of the automotive industry’s most sophisticated security teams at Tesla, David Colombo, a 19-year-old German security researcher, managed to gain remote access to dozens of Teslas spread out around the world. In this presentation, David will provide insights into and the timeline of how he gained access to the vehicles, and his interactions with Tesla’s security team. He will discuss the vulnerabilities he discovered and why connected vehicles are at serious risk of being hacked, and what automotive manufacturers need to do to reduce the attack surface and mitigate the risk.
