Assess and improve supplier’s product security in a car program

Based on feedbacks of a French OEM, this presentation focuses on the challenges to assess the cybersecurity posture of supplier’s products and how Moabi solution can help car makers and suppliers to validate this security level with remediation details to improve it. Assessing the security level of a new vehicle sub-system is a conundrum for any OEM : SAST platforms for static analysis require source code, supplier’s security questionnaire may be biased and traditional audits require time and high expertise from pen-testers and security analysts. These various approaches are not relevant when it comes to validate regularly, every months or so, new releases and new components versions (think about the multiple versions of an IVI to address dozens of different geographies for instance). Moabi solution has been used for its automated reverse engineering capabilities and performance to deliver security metrics (technical debt, defense in depth, strength of ciphers, compliance to security standards, and CVEs and ODays identification). This presentation gives some elements of its benefits in the context of a new vehicle program.
